Event Description

ℹ️ About the Workshop

Reclaim movement in a body designed to move.

Theme: When sitting becomes our default state, what happens to our capacity for movement?

Headline: Our bodies adapt to the lives we repeatedly ask them to live.

Hours of sitting, screens and limited movement can gradually reduce our awareness and vocabulary of movement.

Instead of simply correcting “bad posture”, this workshop explores how the spine moves, what we may have stopped asking it to do, and how we can begin to reclaim movement.

What we’ll explore

·        The spine as a moving structure

·        Mobility versus stability

·        Why “good posture” isn’t simply one fixed position

·        The impact of prolonged sitting on movement

·        Self-observation of spinal movement

·        Flexion, extension, rotation and lateral movement

·        The relationship between pelvis, spine and head

·        Sukshma Vyayama and spinal mobility

·        Bringing movement awareness into sitting, standing and everyday life

🎯 What to expect in the time allocated :

An interactive 90-minute session combining simple movement assessments, guided exploration, mobility practices and everyday movement applications.

You will leave with

·        A better understanding of spinal movement

·        Awareness of your own movement restrictions and habits

·        A practical mobility sequence

·        Tools to interrupt sedentary patterns

·        A more nuanced understanding of posture

Best suited for

Desk workers, sedentary adults, yoga practitioners and anyone who experiences stiffness or reduced movement from prolonged sitting.
